Crestone Art in the Garden Tour

July 30, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Can you believe? It’s been a decade since our first Garden Tour in 2012. Since that time we’ve invited artists to share their work as well. Gardens are nature’s artwork and go nicely with human artists’ creations. Will Shahna share her copperwork illuminations again this year, while showing off her special hillside garden? Will Christina show her beaded jewelry and delightful paintings in her own garden this year? How about Corez’s creative woodburnings? Can we view Kizzen and Janet’s Women’s Garden from Janet’s new studio? Who will be helping and sharing expertise with us at the Community Garden by the Little Shepherd Church? What new gardens will we be able to tour this season? Will yours be among them? We hope so!

The Art in the Garden Tour is a self-guided tour. Pick up a map and tour guide at the Little Shepherd Church garden on Alder Street a block past Town Hall. Visit any gardens you like at any time between noon and 4pm on Saturday, July 30. Flowers should be blooming and veggies showing their best colors and fruits. There might even be taste treats! This is a great opportunity to ask experienced gardeners their secrets for gardening in high-altitude Crestone.

It’s also a chance to see some of our many artists and craftspeople displaying their work in nature’s gallery. Some may be demonstrating their techniques, others showing their new summer pieces. You’re sure to find something special to celebrate your summer in Crestone!

To participate in the tour, or ask questions, contact Matie Belle Lakish, Garden Guru, at 719-256-4252. Email is preferred at matieb42@gmail.com. Help with any aspect of the tour would be welcomed.
