“Change the Story Through Nonviolent Action: What You Can Do.”

April 15, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

What can anyone do about the violence in our country? Are there any solutions? Is there any hope?

A group of citizens are sponsoring a workshop to help address this vital topic: “Change the Story Through Nonviolent Action: What You Can Do.”
Workshop presenter, Rivera Sun, former resident of Taos, New Mexico, is the editor of Nonviolent News and program coordinator for Campaign Nonviolence.

In the workshop, which Rivera will conduct via zoom, participants will learn over 300 ways of taking action nonviolently and hear dozens of stories about how people are making change in their communities. She will lead participants through activities that will help us build new systems, tap into our creativity, resist injustice and heal the harm.

Sun’s workshop is designed to give participants a sense of power and potential for building a better world.

The best news: this dynamic workshop is free. Registration is appreciated by following the link at https://qrco.de/suntalk, but everyone is invited. It will take place April 15, 3:00-5:00 pm, at Adams State University, McDaniel Hall, Room 301.

Sun is also the author of numerous books and novels, including the fantasy YA series: Ari Ara. Many people are reading her novel, The Dandelion Insurrection, before the workshop and holding discussion groups. If you are interested in participating or hosting a group, text Elise at 719-480-3847.

Sponsoring organizations include: First United Methodist Church of Alamosa, ASU Women of Higher Education, Alamosa Presbyterian Church; Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Alamosa; Anabaptist Fellowship of Alamosa (MCUSA), Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Adams State University, Department of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Political Science.
