The Crestone dance community is in search of an indoor space to host ecstatic dance, contact improvisation and authentic movement.
While the dance community in Crestone has been growing exponentially, finding an appropriate indoor space to host classes has remained a challenge. Without a local community center, teachers and facilitators of movement arts in Crestone have extremely limited options available to them.
The dance community is seeking a space that is affordable or free of charge, where they can offer by-donation offerings for up to 20 people. A smooth wood, matted or vinyl floor is also a necessity, as carpet, uneven wood and cement are not appropriate for most dance modalities and can be dangerous for dancers.
The Crestone Charter School offered their Rainbow Hall to the dance community for use on Sundays to host ecstatic dance over the fall and winter, but recently stopped allowing use of this space due to an issue with the fire alarm and limited staff available to open and close the space.
If you have or are aware of an appropriate space for use, please reach out to Anya Kaats at 719-298-2260 or anyakaats@gmail.com.
