The Crestone Eagle is a trusted nonprofit monthly newspaper serving Crestone, the San Luis Valley, Colorado & beyond. Our mission is to connect each other, one story at a time.

Thanks to the “local” library

I am grateful to the (NSCLD) a.k.a. the Baca Library for keeping and circulating the books of Norah Tunney’s poetry. We have a local library and we are very fortunate that part of its mission is to provide access to local authors, especially in book form.  I have now checked out all five of Norah’s poetry books, but I will return them shortly, so that others may enjoy, no, revel in her words. Thank you to the capable bright-eyed librarian guides.

Next, I want to thank John Gallagher for taking it upon himself to lighten the overflow of donations to the FreeBox, by wisely taking large loads to the dump. He could see the only way to transform the blight back into the monument of free sharing, giving and receiving, was to make it once more welcoming to those seeking to give and/or to receive, and not just become mounds of stuff, making passage into it impossible.

I thank also those volunteers who relentlessly fold or hang up clothing donations and sort other items into categories for the shelves.

I thank everybody who contributes well cared for, clean, unworn or unbroken items, as well as those who hold back on their donations when a survey of the condition of the Free Box tells them their items will not be seen, gladly found, and taken to homes, but will only add to the confusion. Sometimes, that is a hard decision and a blow to one’s intentions. One thinks of the greater good.

The Library and the Free Box and The Crestone Eagle are vital organs for this Community.
Nurture and take good care of them.

I thank everybody who reads the The Crestone Eagle and the letters, and knows that this writer is only trying to give my perspective to us. Happy, happy holidays.

May all your days be Holi Days.
Peace Love Abide.
