Student trip to capital

Middle School students recently took a trip to the Colorado State Capital.

Students visited as representatives of the Crestone Charter School on Advocacy Day and meet with Senator Cleave Simpson and Representative Matthew Martinez, bringing to their attention the need for a Recreation Center for Crestone. Interactive nature walk signs

Next time you enter the CCS forest area you will see laminated green cards, attached to trees lining the frisbee golf course. This is a new Interactive Nature Walk installed by students. After they attached the cards, they experienced the nature walk, paired up with Ms. Jane’s K-1 class as guides. The installation promotes a deeper connection with nature. Simply find the card, read, and follow the instructions. Begin your walk at the first station where the frisbee golf course begins, off of Lime St., and end your nature experience at card #14. The cards were created by teacher Denise Vargas during her Colorado Parks and Wildlife training last summer. Students earned three hours of community service credit. photo by Denise Vargas
