Cell Tower Meeting

August 24, 2022 @ 6:00 pm

Dear Editor,

Many moons ago, when I first moved to the Baca, Crestone/Baca residents successfully battled to stop our area being used for low altitude Air Force fighter jet training. The flyovers were ear-splitting and soul-rattling.  Now, 25 years later, a much quieter, more insidious threat (though potentially, equally as disruptive) is being, oh so quietly, proposed for our area.  The Baca Grande Water and Sanitation Dept. is considering using their land (south of T Road) for a 195’ cell tower. (That’s the height of an 18-story building.)

Now, I know that the Baca has very real needs with regard to old water infrastructure that is past its “sell by” date. But a deal with the devil is never a good deal. The serious concerns that I have with cell tower RFs in general, and 5G microwaves in particular, are too numerous to include here.   www.radiationhealthrisks.com is a decent starting point for the interested. BGW&S will hold a public ZOOM meeting at 6pm on Aug. 24 to address this proposal. I hope that those of us who don’t want this will help to educate those who don’t understand the risks involved.
