Halls Of Justice Amendment XIV, Section 3

The constitution of the United States is our nation’s document in which elected and confirmed officials take an “Oath of Affirmation.” Times have evolved since its creation. One thing remains; people have bled in upholding their duty and honor for this country’s constitution. Section 3 of the 14th Amendment has been scrutinized by the halls of justice. There was ample evidence to keep insurrectionists from pursuing elected offices when this amendment was designed.

An indictment charged to a presidential candidate is waiting for a trial to prove he engaged in an act of insurrection. Donald J. Trump has “equal protection under the law” and “presumed innocent until proven guilty.”

Though real time coverage of Jan. 6, 2021 and the Congressional House Investigative Committee was viewed by many Americans and Jack Smith’s Indictment of Donald J. Trump is open for public review, our country’s laws apply strictly to those accused of breaching them. We all are equal under the law.

People may be skeptical of our laws, but our laws give us the freedom to do so. It is our foundation of democracy that we must “preserve, protect and defend.” If democracy is destroyed or, in any way undermined, a replacement rule of governing would then fill that vacuum.

What other type of government would give all its people equality under the law and most especially, “…secures the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves…”
