CCS Seniors mix education, culture, art and fun in their out-of-country trip

By Sequoia Sirois.

The Crestone Charter School (CCS) gives amazing diverse learning opportunities to all students.  LINK high schoolers are given the lucky chance to go places out of the United States mainland. LINK is a reference to seniors and their “link” between childhood and adulthood and post-graduation endeavors.

LINK students have gone on many adventurous, fun, academic-driven trips to many parts of the world, including Costa Rica, Brazil and Hawaii. Students left March 25 for the Puerto Rico trip, which runs through April 8. Students worked hard to fundraise money for the trip and will sell new CCS merchandise at the end of April.

Puerto Rico is a vibrant and culturally-rich island territory located in the northeastern Caribbean Sea. It is the smallest and easternmost of the Greater Antilles Islands and is situated between the Dominican Republic and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The island is known for its stunning natural beauty, including lush rainforests, beautiful beaches, and picturesque mountains. The people of Puerto Rico, known as Puerto Ricans or Boricuas, are known for their warm hospitality, vibrant music, and flavorful cuisine.

LINK students are doing a mix of educational activities including learning more about the culture of Puerto Ricans by visiting museums and touring the University of Puerto Rico. On the artistic side visits to cultural dance classes and other creative activities are planned. Outdoor activities include exploring and hiking to waterfalls, boat rides, beach time, educational outdoor classes.

Attend the CCS end-of-the-year Show and Tell, May 21, to see the Puerto Rico presentation. Show and Tell hosts presentations and performances from all grades and performances from mentorship classes LINK students took through the school year.
