Youth visions for Crestone

Ed’s note: Mark “Ziggy” Eilets presented this statement at the Town Hall meeting, Jan. 27. I asked that he send to me as a letter to the community in order to share youth voices from the community. See that story on page 7.

For me personally, I think there should be more things for the youth in Crestone to do. Many of the kids here are on their phones for a majority of the day and turn to drugs due to the lack of “fun” things to do here.

One way we could fix this is having an art studio, maybe having a small little “get together” every new moon to look at the stars, maybe have some clubs and/or classes for kids who are interested, (like gardening, sciences, and cooking just to name a few,) and especially an arcade, because it’ll help the economy by keeping our dollars local, while also giving kids something fun to do with their friends on the weekends.
