Friends of Casita Park invites participation

By Eden Elderberry.

There were no new nominations for the Friends of Casita Park board of directors this year but the group still has high hopes for residents and neighbors joining them in upcoming projects and events.

Thex board — consisting of Craig Tomaski (President), Eddy Byerly (Vice President), Val Herenchak (Treasurer), Eden Elderberry (Secretary), and both members at large, Michael Scully and Kyle Campbell — invited the community to a potluck on December 12 following their December 11 annual meeting.

Besides the board meeting, community members showed up for a gathering at the Baca Grande Library. “We annually put on a holiday potluck to try to get to know our neighbors in a more relaxed setting,” said Eddy Byerly about the event.

In addition to their regular meetings, members work in subcommittees to work on special projects such as the Casita Park Clean Up and playground construction. Despite not having any new nominees, Friends of Casita Park is extending an invitation to anyone interested to join in a meeting, bring input from the community or help with one of the subcommittees such as the non-profit committee, playground committee, event planning, or grant writing committee. The group said it could always use help, as well. Anyone interested can attend a regular meeting the second and fourth Monday of the month, 5 p.m. at the Baca Grande Library community room or email Elderberry at edenelderberry777@gmail.com
