International travel benefits CCS students

By Zenna.

International and local travel has allowed Crestone Charter School (CCS) students the opportunity to explore different cultures through different locales.

Every year high school students have journeyed to domestic or international places for their spring trip. This year students will go to Puerto Rico for their trip this spring this upcoming school year (2023-2024). Experiential outdoor trips are a great way to get high schoolers out of a small town and to adventure in various places. High school LINK has been fundraised in advance.

With the budget mostly paid for, fundraising is only lightly necessary. Any support or any advice will be much appreciated. While the LINK of high school ventures  to Puerto Rico they plan to visit museums and Mural walks, National rainforests, snorkeling and beach time.

Puerto Rico is a place where a majority of the residents speak the Spanish language so teacher Sam Goering has proposed that all students take Spanish language classes during their stay.

Last year, students who went on the Brazil trip learned Portuguese due to the fact that little to no people spoke the English language.

Students were placed in host families and created a strong bond between them. Most—if not all—students agreed that spending time and building a relationship with their host families was the best part of their international trip.
