Living Wisdom Village

To the community,

This month, Crestone Peak Community Housing (CPCH) will participate in one of the largest one-day giving events in the country—ColoradoGives Day, on Dec. 5. We’re asking for your donations to make Living Wisdom Village (LWV) a truly affordable community for Crestone seniors.

In brief: CPCH has the funding necessary to build LWV, a 20-unit senior housing village and community center, starting in the spring of 2024.

However, a change in contractors has required new plans, different materials and building methods, and a longer time frame for completion. In the meantime, material and labor costs have risen and the initial construction budget is no longer adequate.

This funding shortfall could be covered by a mortgage, but LWV rents would have to be raised to cover this debt. LWV’s goal is to build this project debt-free, to keep rents for our residents, most of whom live on $800-$1,200 monthly social security income, truly affordable at approximately one-third of their income. CPCH’s ColoradoGives fund-raising goal is $50,000 to cover increased costs. To donate, go to www.coloradogives.org and search for “Crestone Peak Community Housing.”

All donations made now through Dec. 5 qualify for part of a $1-million incentive fund. Or send a check to P.O. Box 911, Crestone.

Sincere thanks,

CPCH board of directors
