Moffat sports: New season starts

By Ziah Knight-Pesqueira.

Boys’ basketball in first

The Moffat Cowboys have been very successful in their previous five match ups; outscoring each of their last four opponents by 20 or more points. The team — despite taking a loss to Centennial — has worked their way to an impressive 11-2 (wins-losses) record, resulting in them ranking first in the 1A Southern Peaks League and in the top 20 for all 1A schools in Colorado.

The team has been on a roll and looks to further its winning record through February.

Girls’ basketball team works hard to improve overall season record

The Moffat Cowgirls have been working hard to improve their record. The team notched their first win of the season versus Antonito earlier in January and has won every matchup versus Antonito since, leaving them with a 3-9 (wins-losses) record.

With these wins, Moffat is currently fourth in the 1A Southern Peaks League. This means they are in a good position in qualifying for playoffs. With these wins under their belt and a highly motivated team, the Cowgirls are in high hopes for the remainder of the season.
