US 160 closure to begin October 17 in Alamosa

Daytime detour for eastbound traffic between Ross Ave., &  State Ave., (Oct 17-19)

Alamosa County — The Colorado Department of Transportation implements a planned 3-day road closure on US Highway 160 (Sixth Street) set to begin on Tues., Oct. 17. The detour will be in place each day from 7 a.m to 5 p.m. while demolition work takes place on a local hotel. The Sixth Street closure points are located on either side of the project site, at Ross Avenue and State Avenue. 

During daytime hours, motorists should plan to follow the approved detour route along Ross Avenue, Eighth Street and State Avenue. The detour will remain in place through Thurs., Oct.19 at 5 p.m. 
 

Traffic Impacts & Detour Route

Motorists traveling eastbound on US 160 (Sixth Ave) will encounter daytime closures between Ross Avenue and State Avenue (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.). During evening hours, US 160 will be back open to one-lane traffic. 

  • West closure point is located at Ross Avenue & US 160
  • East closure point is located at State Avenue & US 160
  • Eastbound motorists will be guided by signage and flaggers along the detour route; Ross Avenue, Eighth Street and State Avenue 
  • Traffic headed westbound on US 160 (Main Street) will not be impacted by the closure

The purpose of this 3-day closure is to increase pedestrian and motorist safety while demolition of the Walsh Hotel takes place.
